I'm sure you guys are completely sick of me, I'm sorry.
But the Nuvaring made me panic, lethargic, and deeply depressenow or to mention I had to remove it for sex and it caused sex to be extremely painful. SUPRISE! It IS the same hormone mix that always does that to me.
I took it out about 6pm last night, it is now 10am. Am I safe to switch back to norethindrone only pills? (my finances vasectomy went beautifully yesterday btw) it's Saturday, I tried calling an urgent care center to ask and they said they don't deal with bc and hung up, the health departments closed and so is everywhere else.... So does anyone know if this is safe?

You could ask a pharmacist.

But I would say that you are safe. If you're worried about like, overdosing and getting sick or something, that's really unlikely to happen. If anything you'll experience some unpleasant side effects, but they won't hurt you or anything.

According to this pdf on switching contraceptives (http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:645y4HNzhMQJ:www.reproductiveaccess.org/fact_sheets/downloads/switching_bc.pdf+switching+birth+control&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESi50Ga-KM0o3VpmimCAeSZz0fp_0QX0Q-5YOOlCuKx7-91_-Go_qlzyYI5wMOUiCDCyl5HabJGVDJFFk9YiLOgd36fCG-tfLl7Iwv-63y4pyhNzWS7vb9mSSn2WNEno9-Dqn3vI&sig=AHIEtbR5w9RK8QmnrbBZM-xsyXOE2_4bMw), you're supposed to start taking the pill the day before you switch, in order to have no break in coverage. (It looks like that pdf is from ReproductiveAccess.org (http://www.reproductiveaccess.org/fact_sheets/switching_bc.htm).) Ortho-Tri-Cyclen's page (http://www.thepill.com/thepill/aboutortho-switching.html#vaginal) recommends you switch on your ring-free week.

I'm glad your fiancee's vasectomy went well. That's at least one bit of good news. Keep in mind that the vasectomy shouldn't be considered effective until after he's had the follow-up and been cleared! Though, that's probably why you're on the norethindrone, I guess. Good luck!

Hi - gosh, it just gets better and better, hey? I'm feeling pretty relieved I turned down the nuvaring at this point. Mind if I ask exactly which pill you are going back on? The Ortho Tri Lo made me feel ill... I'd rather none but I'm curious since we seem to have some parallels, what you've found to be least offensive with the side effects.

Ah, okay, there are some other reasons the hormones don't sit well with you... (fwiw google says the brand name of that is "Aygestin", but I haven't heard of it before). I'll have to maybe ask about the progestin only pills, but all of them will still probably upset my stomach because I'm so sensitive to the lactose.

Ugh, so complicated! ;) Hope you can work something out until the vasectomy is confirmed!
