I've not taken that particular version of Loestrin, but with most of the pills I used (which was 4 or 5 different kinds), my period didn't start until about day 3 or 4 of the "blank" pills, and continued through the first few days of the hormonal ones. Even if you've been on birth control before, your body may still be adjusting to the new hormone dosage or behaving differently.

As for the antibiotics, they shouldn't have affected your birth control quickly enough to cause a problem.

My advice is to wait another two to three days, then take a home pregnancy test if your period hasn't started. I think you're probably fine, but it will be good to know for sure that it's just the pill causing you to miss periods (that way you won't freak out every time you miss one).

And don't feel scared about buying a pregnancy test - it's better to know! I've done it a couple of times myself when my period was very light, even when I didn't think there was much of a chance I was pregnant.

I've never heard the "two months" thing - what I've heard from all my ob/gyns (we're talking probably close to 10 doctors) is that you should use a backup method for the first 10 days to 2 weeks on a new form of birth control, and after that you're fine.

Also, I did catch that there are only 2 brown pills on this one - but it's still possible that you could start your period in the first few days of taking the hormone pills.

Hopefully someone who's taken the same pill will come along with more info - I just wanted to try to offer some reassurance, because I know what pregnancy scares are like!

Here's a link to your pill packet: http://www.wcrx.com/pdfs/pi/ppi_loloestrinfe.pdf

This information probably came with your pills. It says that you are protected immediately if you start taking your pills the first day of your period or after seven days if you start at another time. It also says not to bother worrying about pregnancy unless you've missed two bleeds in a row. But even then, it's more likely a side effect of the pill.

There's no rule that your bleed has to start when you're on the placebo pills. It might take your body a few days to figure out what's going on.

I'm on lo loestrine fe and i had the same problem; The first month i was on it i bled even before taking the last active (white) pill, and bled for a long time (probably because i started taking it right before i was supposed to get a period). Anyway, was on it for three months after that and never got my period again. i haven't taken it in about a week (ran out) and still nothing. I was also scared that i was pregnant but i took a test and it was negative. My sister is on the same pill and she said she almost never gets hers. i think you're probably fine, but take a test if you're really paranoid - it's the only thing that will ease your mind.

I've been on LoEstrin24 for 8 months now, and have only had one period in that time (first pill pack). It's pretty common with this pill. I do a pregnancy test every few months just to ease my mind.

welcome
