Hot flashes with the pill?

I just started taking birth control pills again. Tonight is my 4th night on Gianvi. I'm having what seem to be hot flashes. I'm not entirely sure it's the pill though. Maybe I'm getting sick? I've taken Gianvi before and never experienced this.

My first few months of taking Yaz, I also experienced something similar, though they were just in the middle of the night. I would wake up burning hot drenched in sweat. I had a friend who experienced the same thing, too. It went away in a few months, though it was worrying and annoying! I never had any other odd side effects from it.

Oh my gosh, I thought this was all in my head! I've been on yaz for about a month, and also get brief hot flashes throughout the day, then go back to my usual state (which is being extremely cold, all the time. Damn!)

Personally, I don't find it too worrying. It's pretty harmless for me though, just annoying! Seek medical advice from a professional if it's really bothering you.

(Just because I discounted the symptom for years -- thyroid test? I thought that I was just a "hothouse Texas flower" in New England, and that was the source of my always-feeling-cold. Turns out I was hypothyroid, undiagnosed. Low ferritin, too, which can contribute.)

I would guess it's a normal side effect due to hormone levels fluctuating, and that it will probably go away the longer you use the pill. I'm on NuvaRing and sometimes I will get night sweats/hot flashes when I'm on the ring-free week.
