I think I might have a yeast infection. It looks different than the last time.. Its thick, creamish looking discharge and only sometimes does it itch down there. What would happen if I used Monistat and it wasn't a yeast infection?

i'm not good at picking out yeast infections because i've only just had my first one, but if you're concerned, i'd pick up some AZO yeast (you can get it at target) because that's helped me A LOT with my infection and if you start to take it and it's not an infection, you're definitely not going to hurt anything.

there's a delicate yeast/bacteria balance, so if you take an anti-yeastie medication if you don't have one, it can give the bacteria a window to overpopulate your vagina, and a bacterial infection, i'm told, is *far* nastier than a yeastie... that's why the instructions on the box of monistat says that if it's your first yeast infection, you should see your gyno just to make sure.

uh, be careful, i read that vulvodynia (horrible thing!!!) can come from mistreating infections like f.ex., a yeastie that is bv or something. see a doc to be safe!
