Hello everyone,
Here's an interesting question that my boyfriend had last weekend. He is very fond of my nipples, well, he's fond of everything, really. But last weekend he was sucking on them and paying with them quite a bit. At one point, however he drew back and told me they were salty. I thought he was just imagining things, but eventually he proved it to me by playing with them some more and suceeding in drawing a tiny droplet of clear liquid. Apparently this persisted the entire weekend. He said it was slightly less salty than sweat, and I doubt sweat actually comes out of the nipple itself. So, what is that stuff? Is he actually, like I've been joking, causing me to lactate by playing with the girls too much?
Just curious.
Thank you in advance!

I was once oozing a little milky fluid yrs after I stopped nursing, and my doc made sure to do a test to check my pituitary gland....sometimes a tumor or abnormality there can cause this to happen.
But my gland was fine and she chalked it up to hormone changes.

Date: 2011-03-15 11:58 pm (UTC)It's happened before, and I always laughed it off. It's just that this time he actually proved to me that there's stuff coming out of my nipples. Lol
Thank you for the comment!

Date: 2011-03-15 07:30 pm (UTC)This is pretty normal!
Now, how do I know about this prolactin stuff? I can, any old time, express green fluid from my breasts. (This happened before I was pregnant, not during, and after.) When sent to the endo, I demonstrated my Martian heritage and she got me a slip to get a blood test to check my prolactin levels. "But", she said, "don't do it right away -- you've been stimulating your breasts, and that will cause your prolactin levels to be elevated. Give it a few days."
(As it happens, "green" is normally abnormal, no one knows quite why (she pronounced me half-Martian and I went YAY!), but it's harmless.)

OP - sorry to hijack your thread, wish I had something useful to say for you :)
Martian lactaters unite (slightly off-topic)
Date: 2011-03-15 10:36 pm (UTC)Needless to say, it is just being half-Martian. (That endo was really, really cool.)
I'm sorry that you had such a stressy time of it! O:(

Date: 2011-03-16 12:05 am (UTC)And like I've replied to other people, it's very clear, very liquidy, and it seems that he can only get maybe a drop at a time out (although I'm sure actually sucking helps more than pinching, and that's why he can taste it that much)
It sounds like all is well, and I should continue making baby/lactation jokes and generally tease the bf. :3

Date: 2011-03-16 12:29 am (UTC)But technically medical stuff is just a hobby for me.
Anyway! Yeah, keep making the lactation jokes. O;D (And if he actually starts getting white stuff out? Don't freak! Adoptive mothers can sometimes wind up breastfeeding their babies, despite never being pregnant, from letting the baby try to nurse before giving it a bottle each time.[1])
[Footnote 1: Naturally, this should only be tried for a reasonably brief amount of time, that will not tire the adopted baby so much that it won't be able to drink enough from the bottle! And, of course, appropriate bottle-delivered food should not be restricted! I may be pro-breastfeeding, but I'm not crazy-fanatic levels of pro-breastfeeding. The goal is, after all, to have a healthy baby, whatever it eats to get that way.
Unless, y'know, we're talking a baby t-rex. I'm not feeding a baby t-rex my cats, however much it might want them and however good cats might be for one.]
