So, I have this red spot on my boob. The center's small, and surrounded by an area that's lighter in color.

It's been there about a month and a half...I don't think it's grown any, but it also hasn't gone away, although it is lighter in color than it was when I first noticed it. Also, at first it peeled like a sunburn, but it's since stopped doing that. I also think it's in the skin, and not the breast itself, but I'm not a doctor.

It's not painful, and it's pretty regular in shape. I haven't noticed any other spots or irregularites on either of my breasts.

My friends thought it might have been a spider bite, but I'd imagine something like that would have healed by now.

What am I dealing with?

If you're comfortable showing this spot to your general doctor, I would do that (just remember, it's only skin, and your doctor is a professional). It sounds sort of like a pimple but the peeling and the length of time you've had it is a little odd. A referral to a dermatologist might be a good idea since it sounds like a skin thing. While you're waiting for an appointment, check over the rest of your body for similar spots.

When you say the center is small and surrounded by an area lighter in color, does it look sort of like a bullseye? It's not exactly the time of year for it, but it might be worth getting checked out in case you've got lyme disease.

I would have it looked at -- the bull's eye rash is very common, but not universal. Better to catch the possibility early than to let it go and have potential very long-term consequences.

Good luck!

Is it similar to a mole? (some moles are red...) I once had the skin around a small mole suddenly turn almost white, and I freaked out about it. It turned out to be nothing though, sometimes the immune system decides to attack a spot and it causes a loss of pigmentation around it... But I'd agree to get it checked out, the best we can do is guess!

I would try putting neosporin/bacatracin (antibiotic ointment) on it twice a day for a few days. See if it clears up. If not, have a doctor look at it. I feel like I've had something similar and a doctor told me to do that. It really helped. And if it doesn't, no harm will be done.
