You can get *temporarily" desensitized, as with any vibration - like for a few minutes. I've heard a few times that if you seriously use vibrators a LOT, the temporary effects can last a couple of days, but not anything long-term.
I guess, as with anything, you can get used to one particular type of stimulation, and prefer it for a quick release or for a specific kind of stimulation. I love my vibrator, and I use it regularly - but I also enjoy regular sex and have orgasms with that too. I think it's just a matter of personal flexibility as to what kind of stimulation you prefer or how often you want it. Like, if I orgasm regularly for a while, it's different than if I have no stimulation for a few days - neither is better, but the sensations are different and do different things.
