 I got my period a couple hours ago.

I made some parsley tea (thanks to a website I found on here) because I should have been cramping today and I wasn't. So about six hours after I drank two cups, I started feeling warm-ish and went to the bathroom.. voila!

THANK GOODNESS!

I guess I didn't need the pregnancy test after all... but I will be getting on the birth control pill ASAP. It will definitely be worth the extra money so I don't have to go through this extra worrying anymore.

Thanks to everyone who helped me through this scary time. I needed it!

Just remember that people who are happy with their HBC generally don't post "OMG! I love my HBC, brand name [whatever], and it's the greatest! No babies, no/few side effects, woo!" More often, it's the people who have side effects who say, "AUGH, [brand name here] is HORRIBLE! It gave me creeping crud! It made mushrooms grow from my ears! It ate my bank account and gave a virus to my computer!"

And while all those bad effects may be true for them, it doesn't necessarily follow that they're the majority.

Which is to say, if you want a different HBC, that's definitely reasonable! But... to a certain extent, it's better not to do internet searches on any given brand -- you will almost certainly find only the horror stories, because that's just how human nature works.

I ended up going ahead and filling the prescription. I'll start it on Sunday.

I have a weird question though... if the parsley tea IS what made my period come.... that only works when you're NOT pregnant right?

As far as I know, parsley tea will not work if you have hCG in your system to fight it. If you wind up with a light, spotty period and are still concerned, take another pee-test just to reassure yourself. Otherwise? Nice normal period, not very light? I'd figure that the uterus is uninhabited.

Whee, Sunday start! Remember, 7 days before full protection, since you're not starting on the first day of your period.

First morning pee, yeah... Actually, by this time, you should probably just go for the blood test if you can afford it, since your period's been, to quote Terry Pratchett, "playing silly buggers" with you enough that anything less will probably not reassure you sufficiently.
