Contagious antibiotics causing yeast infections?

My boyfriend and I always get sick at the same time for obvious reasons. He usually goes to the doctor and gets medicine, I don't. He is often diagnosed with a sinus infection and put on antibiotics. Now I have yet another yeast infection... and it dawned upon me that the two events coincide, and have probably done so in the past. Can his being on antibiotics transfer to me somehow? Or maybe,does a weakened immune system make one more susceptible? I take acidopholus and garlic supplements, wash (with plain water) when I am sweaty or sticky, and even use a preventative vinegar douche the week before my period. I honestly don't know why I keep getting these infections.

it's great that you're using garlic. commercial antibiotics really suck. some people are prone to getting yeast infections.

Thanks, the link was very helpful. I did look in archives under yeast infections, but didn't find anything... maybe the archives hadn't been completely compiled yet? If that's not in there it definitely should be.

Men can get yeast infections if they use antibiotics. It happened to my husband once, he had to get cream to rub on it. Maybe your boyfriend is passing his yeast infection to you? If he has mild symptoms he might not even realise.

Next time he gets antibiotics he could ask his doctor about this.

douching in itself can cause yeast infections.

I know this, but I read in several places that a douche of just vinegar and water can help cure or prevent yeast infections because it increases the acidity of the vagina.
