when i was 17, i got PID. i didn't get it as an STD... it occurred due to my immune system being VERY low. i had it for i don't know how many months, but i do know i didn't get my period for roughly five months and stabbing pains started to occur. so i went to the doctor. my thyroid was out of whack so i started taking thyroid medicine. and i took medicine to clear up my uterine infection. now i know that PID can make a person sterile.... has anyone on here had to go check for sterility? how exactly does that work and what is the cost?

I'm sorry, but I don't know a whole lot about this. Do you have insurance? If so, please call the doctor and get this checked out right away. Generally, a lot of things can be fixed in the early stages, but not later--so please talk to a doc.

If you don't have insurance, there are likely to be some low-cost, sliding scale clinics in your area. I see that you're in Columbus...do a google.com search for free and cheap women's clinics.

I did a quick search and found this link to a free clinic. http://www.cma-ohio.org/pfc/cliniclocations.html

Here's a link to all the Planned Parenthoods in Ohio. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/affiliateinfo/stateinformation.asp

Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Sincerely,
