If I were to take a pregnancy test right after I experienced what could be implantation would it be accurate? My period is still about 5 days away ... I just don't want to have to wait that long if what I am experiencing is implantation bleeding. Thanks for your help :)

When was the sex? It's usually recommended 19 days after the sex in question or on the day your period is due.

Some tests are sensitive to 5 days before a missed period. I recently got a positive 3 days before my missed period (granted, didn't think i was pregnant though). If you can afford more than one test (even dollar store or WalMart tests are perfectly accurate and sensitive), test now and test later if you like :)

I think that you have to wait a certain amount of time after implantation...your body needs time to start making hCG and implantation is when it starts. I think seven days after implantation is the standard for most tests, although some will pick it up earlier if they're more sensitive.

A positive is pretty much always reliable, but a negative right now could just mean you haven't had a chance to build up enough hormones. Personally, I'd wait, but that just depends on what you're comfortable with.

It's better to wait until the day your period is due, it will be accurate.

Straight out of a textbook-

It (hCG) originates from the trophoblastic cells of the chorion and is secreted as soon as the blastocyst hatches from the zona pellucida. hCG can be detected in the blood as soon as 8-10 days of gestation.

From wiki- "Blastocyst formation begins at day 5 after fertilization in humans,[1] when the blastocoele opens up in the morula." (my book concurs with this statement in a table comparing the timing of preattachment of embyrogenesis in species)

I believe the general guide for urine detection is 3 weeks for a reliable result.

If you're experiencing implantation bleeding right now, you need to wait a handful of days before you can expect an accurate test. Seven would be a good bet. As others have said, you could test now...if you get a positive, you are pregnant. But if you get a negative that's not a reliable result - you may or may not be pregnant and would need to test again in a number of days.

check out peeonastick.com
there is a ton of useful info there, I learned a lot! its somewhere between 6 to 12 days after ovulation/conception for implantation to occur, then it takes anywhere between 2 to 4 days after implantation for the body to produce enough hormone for a sensitive test to pick it up.
...oh and I just got that from the website
