Hi! I'm new, and I love this community.

So I started taking Ortho-Tri-Cylen Lo again, I am halfway through my second packet. Today I as I was showering a noticed a spider vein, so I started googling and reading the birth control instructions. So anyway long story short.

I started freaking out today, when my right leg, below the knee starts to feel weird, a sort of numbness, and I can't tell whether it is hot or not. So I start thinking it's a blood clot as I read from the birth control instructions, when I  found my spider vein.  When I walk it feels different from my other leg, there is no pain, just numbness and tingling, and like a pulled a muscle I guess you could say.

So I'm asking, Am I just freaking myself out? Could it be a blood clot? I am a non-smoker, 19 years old and I haven't been diagnosed with any diseases and I do cardio and yoga once a week. If that helps.

It sounds like you have a very low risk of developing a blood clot based on what you've included in the post. When a friend of mine had a blood clot in her leg she was in a significant amount of pain and ibuprofen/other OTC pain meds were not touching it. She went to the hospital within a day or two because the pain was so bad. However, I am not a doctor and that is only one person's experience. If you think you have a blood clot, by all means go to the doctor and have it checked out. Better safe than sorry. :)

And after some Googling I have learned that hormonal birth control can contribute to spider veins. Lovely.

I have spider veins here and there on my legs already and I'm only 19. My grandma and mom have them, and I'm on my feet all the time at my job.. I'm sure the birth control is just one more thing! But they're no big deal to me, when I'm tan I can't really see them at all because they haven't swelled or anything like that.

But honestly I wouldn't worry about it (the blood clot or the spider veins) if I were you. That's just me personally.

Oh no, not at all :) I turned in all of my papers & finals a few weeks ago and I was *SO HAPPY* to be done. I feel your pain!

Numbness would freak me out, too. I'd not put off going, and might consider calling them today. Luck!

My mom had one back in October in her leg, & she was having a lot of pain that started in her back. In her actual leg, she said it felt like a pulling feeling. Her leg ended up swelling up.

It might be worth getting looked at, but I wouldn't worry too, too much. My mom didn't do anything until the swelling, haha.

This post is a few days old now, so I'm sure you've resolved the issue you had (I hope!), but I'd just like to add comment that I have a blood clot phobia (among other things, weird, I know). I will get numbness in a leg or both legs from anxiety, and I do have some weird nerve issues in my legs.
As others have said, I wouldn't worry about it. But knowing that your anxiety might be causing the sensation can help you prevent it or help alleviate it.
