Hi,

I've been getting brazilian wax since September last year. Prior to that, I used to shave a part of that down there area (around 2 inches of the top only).

I have ingrowth hair and I don't know how to get rid of them, and it's REALLY getting on my nerves. The ingrowth are ONLY in the area where I used to shave, there are NONE anywhere else. I've had 2 different estheticians and neither of them know why it's so bad. I bought a product from the salon I go to that's supposed to help reduce if not eliminate ingrowths and it doesn't work. I use a loofah in the shower, I use sensitive skin soap and and I use a dove mosturizing cream. And no, the water in the shower isn't too hot, I'm very careful about that. I shave my legs and sometimes get an ingrowth hair here and there on the inside of my thighs, but nothing as bad as this. It's irritating, super itchy, looks gross and I don't know what to do to fix it.

Anyone has any suggestions?

Bikini Zone makes a bump fighter cream that works to keep the ingrown hairs down on my shaved/waxed areas.

To clarify, the ingrowns are only in the place where you used to shave (a strip of about two inches) and the rest of the area where you get the Brazilian is fine? This might be a total pain, but could you continue to get a wax everywhere else and just start shaving in that area using the same methods you used to use that didn't give you ingrowns?

I have this problem, too, and it occurred to me that one time when I got waxed, the aesthetician used 100% aloe vera gel afterward, and I don't think I got ingrowns that time. It wasn't a very good waxing job, so I'm not going back, but I think I'm going to try that for a few days after waxing versus the super-harsh chemical products.

Aloe vera gel makes me break out after a brazilian, but it's worth a shot - everyone is different.

I've tried everything, and I still get ingrowns and bumps :(

Things that worked best: PFB Vanish (http://www.pfbvanish.com/), tea tree oil and prescription benzamycin. Using Clearasil Daily Face Wash helps a tiny, tiny bit.

Things that didn't work at all: any kind of antifungal, exfoliating with a loofah, exfoliating with sugar scrub, antibacterial soap, Clearasil cream, Neutrogena cream, Neutrogena astringent, witch hazel, Tend Skin, bikini zone, Sally Hanson after-wax stuff, and doing nothing at all.

So if you find something that works, let me know!

I get ingrowns after waxing too, drives me nuts.

I can't figure out what prevents it, I think it might just be my hair type/how my hair grows?

As it grows back I try to scrub in the shower and it helps a bit but I still get them. I worry when I have a partner (don't currently) they'll think I have something contagious, heh.

I've read that salicylic acid exfoliates chemically, I wonder if that would be more effective than scrubbing? A lot of acne washes and such have that as an ingredient. My toner has it in there but I think it's in small amounts. Maybe next time I wax, after I'll try using my toner on one area and see if it makes a difference, hahaha.
