Hi there!

I just have a question about changes within periods as you age. I can't be on hormonal BC so my periods aren't 'regular' as such. My cycle varies from 25-29 days. I've noticed over the past year my period start to change. I used to have 5 days of heavy bleeding with 2 days of brown bleeding. Now I have 2-3 days of heavy bleeding and 2 days of brown bleeding/spotting. I'm 25 and have been having periods since I was 11.
I guess a visit to the gyno is in order but I was wondering if anyone of a similar age to me is experiencing the same thing?

Hormonal changes do not begin and end with menarche and puberty. For about ten years after puberty you experience changes, usually around 19/20 and in the mid-twenties.

Periods will change throughout your life, absolutely. For what it's worth, your cycle actually sounds very regular -- a four-day variation in cycle lengths is well within the definition of regular, and is very normal.

I'm 28 and my periods have changed in all sorts of ways since I started menstruating. It's no big deal.

I don't think it means you need to see a gyno at all. I had a similar experience when I was 19 even though I hit puberty when I was 12. That's pretty normal!

I'm experiencing some changes, too (I'm almost 23). My periods have been getting shorter and last cycle I started spotting right before and after periods. It's strange and can definitely throw you off when you think you know what to expect.
