So, I started noticing last night that my vagina felt strange and a little painful. At further examination when I woke up, I noticed a change in the way my vagina felt with my fingers (particularly in the opening, but also there seems to be a pea sized lump directly above it). My first thought was that my cervix is shifting a bit, or sitting low, but I've never really noticed discomfort from it in the past. I was also peeing quite a bit last night. I'm a bit worried I may have an STD since I found out my ex was cheating on me throughout our relationship last night. Also, I have an IUD (Mirena). Any suggestions on what this could be? Do you think it's urgent, or should I get checked out at the hospital? (I'd rather wait until the week when I can see my own doctor).

Peeing a lot and a general kind of "meh" feeling... I'd go to a walk-in health clinic if you have one, and check for a UTI at the least (because those can turn into kidney infections, which would really suck), and also mention the discomfort. It could be as simple as a yeast infection, could be a UTI, could be both. Could be something more troublesome. If you haven't had a full STI panel since your ex, you might want to do that when you can see your own doctor.

(You will have to ask specifically if you want a blood test for herpes, since somewhere between 50% and 90% of everyone will have antibodies to that because cold sores are oral HSV (usually HSV-1), and that many people have been exposed to cold sores already. So doctors don't bother to test for it when they know it's going to come up positive and they'll have to explain that no, they don't know where the outbreak would be; yes, HSV-1 prefers the mouth and HSV-2 prefers the genitals, but you can find them revered, etc.)

Hope you feel better soon!
