Heavier flow with b.c.

Am I the only woman in the world who has a heavier, longer period when on birth control? I just had my first period while on Mircette, and I'm on the fifth day and still bleeding moderately. When not on birth control, my period is exactly four days, with the first being the heaviest and the fourth being only spotting. Does this happen to anyone else? Should this diminish the longer I take the pill?

I'm on Mircette, if it makes a difference. Thanks, girls. :)

when i started taking the pill my period stayed longer for about 4 months or so, then it scared the hell out of me when it went from 5-7 days til four, now i start on a thursday night/friday morning during the placebo and i'm finished by sunday night.

I'm on mircette and my periods are longer, well about the same actually. I can't really remember what they were like before i was on the pill, though. But i bleed the entire 7 days.

hmm, well I'm on mircette (well, its generic equivalent - kariva) and I've actually noticed that my periods have gotten shorter (used to be about 5 days, now it's more like 3), and I tend to get cramps now, when I rarely had them before. Not that they are bad cramps, still pretty mild. Just different.

hmmm....i don't if i can post here or not, but i'll try.

my girlfriend was on...er, i don't know, but it was tearing her up. headaches that lasted days, and a 2-week long period were the main issues. i was freaking out...iron deficiency, and all, you know? well, she finally talked to the doc who basically gave her a grab-bag of various types of birthcontrols, but told her to try Ortho Low. included in the bag was the patch which had just 8 months prior failed to work for her sister. so anywho, my gf switched to ortho low and after the first month's 7 day period, her period was back to a consistent routine; placebos start on sunday, period starts on wed morning, and ends on saturday.
