Has anyone here successfully used black cohosh to bring on a late period and/or induce miscarriage? I have the capsules (540 mg), but I've heard both 2 capsules every 2 hours and 2 every 4 hours, and I'd like to keep side effects to a minimum, so any advice would be super helpful.

P.S. I've also been taking vitamin C (6,000 mg/daily) for the past two days--supposedly they're complimentary emmenagogues.

If you have been taking them correctly (see www.peeonastick.com), then the results are probably reliable, especially if you've taken several (and especially if the ones you've taken were a variety of brands).

If you're not pregnant and your period is just MIA, parsley tea may be able to help induce it. But dabbling in black cohosh, especially without the guidance of a knowledgeable herbalist, can be dangerous for your health.

Best wishes.

I really wouldn't try this if I were you, even sister zeus only lists it as a "helper" herb, not an actual abortificant, http://www.sisterzeus.com/blackcohosh.htm.

you can use black and blue cohosh together to do what you want, but people don't really advise it anymore.

To my knowledge, there's no good evidence that cohosh can be relied upon to induce an abortion in doses that that are at all safe to take. I don't know about its success rate in inducing delayed menstruation, but if the absence of your period is due to pregnancy, it's not likely to be effective.

I've had parsley tea induce a late/delayed period many times before. Bought a bundle of fresh parsley, boiled it down, added some milk to cut out a bit of the bitter taste and drunk a few cups a day. By the third day, I was bleeding.
