Out of interest, does the time of the month you get a smear test done effect anything? Is there a best time to go (other than not when on your period)?
I keep forgetting to make my appointment, so I'm procrastinating.

They usually like you to come a week after your last period.

It's recommended that you don't go the day before or the first day of your period because it can cause abnormal test results.

I went at the very end of my period once, and it didn't mess up the results or anything. I don't even think she noticed i was still bleeding at bit, or she never said anything to me. I normally try and schedule my appointment for a time when i'm not on my period, but nothing other than that.

I personaly couldn't do that, I'm too heavy and paranoid to be able to risk it.

My clinic asks you not to go during your period, and to leave five clear days either side of your period. If blood gets mixed into the result, it becomes harder to read and the test may need to be repeated.
