This afternoon my stomach started hurting and I had the urge to urinate an awful lot. Yet when I would try to go only a little bit came out and it has been mixed with blood. The doctors around here are closed until the morning so I can't go until then. I went to the store and bought some AZO to help with the burning and stuff, but does anyone know how long this can take to work? And I have other symptoms of a UTI too...hot & cold chills...the frequent need to go...etc. Can anyone give me any more information on AZO? Will it clear it up by itself or should I see a doctor tomorrow? How long does it take to start working? Please help, I'm scared and freaking out.

urm... if yuo have blood in your urine and hot and cold chills i would go to the hospital, UTI's can be fatal if not treated.

Well you can have a UTI for awhile and not notice it.

Keep and eye on your temperature and drink LOTS of fluid, I mean drink tons of water or cranberry juice. Any amount of blood in any sort of bowel movement is a bad sign and should be taken seriously.

If you get any pain in your back below your ribs, or on one side go to the hospital, immediately. If you get a fever or your fever spikes, go to the hospital.

You may find a hot pad on your belly or a warm bath can help.

Good luck, don't mean to seem like i'm overreacting but i've seen people get hospitalized for their UTI's before.

AZO will help relieve symptoms, but you still need to see a doctor to get antibiotics. AZO can also interfere with test results, so either don't take before your appointment, or tell your doctor you have taken it (they'll need a urine sample from you.)

when your doc gives you antibiotics to kill the bacteria that are currently wreaking havoc in your bladder, doc will also give you painkillers - the pills basically line your bladder pepto-bismol style and you'll pee bright orange for a while - but oh, the relief!

cranberry juice/supplements really do help with infections - the cranberry changes the bladder's ph balance (i believe). also, when you start taking antibiotics you should eat yogurt too, to help prevent a yeast infection.

being a girl really is difficult, isn't it? ;P

it sounds like a UTI. I don't know what medication you should take, but it's happened to me before, but it wasn't a UTI. Try drinking cranberry juice or a lot of water. It might help.
