How does everyone feel about Yasmin? Most people seem to like it better than other types of the pill. I've never been on any type of medication, so I'm worried about side effects. Of course, I'd like something to affect me as little as possible. I'm also on a diet now, so I'm really concerned about weight gain.

Also, do you suggest a certain type of BC that you'd like to use to the doctor? Or do they pick something for you? I haven't been to the gyno yet, but I'm planning on going soon.

Thank goodness for these communities!

I'm not sure, but my doctor gave me 4 months worth of Yasmin that I am supposed to start when I get my next period. I'm hoping it doesn't give me much trouble, as I've had severely bad reactions to every other BCP I've tried (can't think of the names at the moment). Hoping the weight gain isn't too bad on it, either.

My doctor basically sat me down and told me about every type of birth control, and from there we discussed which would be best for me. I've tried quite a few, and haven't been able to stick with any yet.

A lot of women on here, and on the birthcontrol community use Yasmin, so I'm sure you'll find tons of info from all of them.

Hi there, (just surfing through)

I have been on Yasmin for maybe a little over a month, after switching off of Ortho-evra (the patch).

Around the day I switched to the white pills (the week my period started), I started getting headaches. Nothing bad, but the dull ache lasted awhile and the only thing that would get it to go away (after downing plenty of motrin which usually kills my headaches) was Midol. The headaches lasted about a week or so.

Not sure if this is because I switched from the patch and my body wasn't used to the effects of Yasmin yet. I don't go to the doctor until October, so I have plenty of time to see if the headaches will be recurring or not. All I know is I'm not used to headaches during and around my period, so I'm assuming this is one of the few side effects.

Also, I haven't experienced any weight gain. I don't think you'll have a problem with it, but then again, I never experienced weight gain on the patch either, so it may or may not effect you.

Anyway, sorry for my big, long spiel, and I hope it helped a little bit. =)

Most gynos will assume you have no preference and just choose something for you -- unless you express a preference, in which case they're usually pretty good about listening to your concerns and giving you what you ask forl
