I find that after someone goes down on me without a dental dam, especially if it's a new partner, I tend to feel like I get a mild yeast infection - I get itchy and sometimes there's a change in smell.

Is this a YI or something else? And is there any way, besides using a dam, to prevent it? (I don't have much of a problem using dams with casual partners, but I'd rather not use them with my girlfriend. Personal preference.)

Maybe you have a mild latex allergy? Are the dams you use the kind that come powdered? I find that (at least with latex gloves), the powder is pretty irritating. Perhaps try either rinsing off the dam before you use it, or using a different kind. Some people use plastic food wrap (not the microwave kind, as that's got teeny holes in it) or you could cut open a non-latex condom. It might be a little spendier than dams, but the female condoms are non-latex and cut open, are pretty huge.

You could try washing your vulva after sex with a solution of cider vinegar or tea tree oil (both of which are anti-fungal so kill yeasties) in warm water. Should hopefully kill off any yeast growth before it can cause the smell & itching. Also, sugar can cause yeast infections, so it can help to make sure your partner brushes their teeth and has a drink of water before they go down on you. Definitely don't let anyone down there if they've just been drinking alcohol or juice, or eating sweets.

Perhaps try boric acid for a bit to see if your current pH might be shiftable to something less friendly to yeast? Eat more probiotics, so your natural flora is a bit more resilient to such changes?

That's about all I could think of... O:(

Good luck!

I do sometimes get a little itchy and irritated. I think her saliva's just of a different pH than my bits like, but then again I get a general itchiness post-sex anyway. I use aloe wipes for my after-shag piss/squirt-dump/clean up, to keep everything moist and reduce irritation. It seems to work a bit better than drying with paper.

Whenever I have oral sex performed on me, I get a YI. 98% of the time. If I run to the bathroom and get all of the saliva off ASAP then I may not have the irritation. But generally for me...oral sex=itchy vag :(
