Is it true that if you're super nauseous, and you know you can't keep your birth control pill down, that you can put it really far up in your vagina, and it still works the same as if you took it orally?

woah... that is one i've never heard before! i have always wondered though, how long after you take the pill is it "digested" or whatever.

I've heard that; the source was redbook/cosmopolitan/something like. Logic in favor: NuvaRing, which is a contraceptive that "leaches" hormones through vaginal walls or something similar.. but that's not enough to convince me that it would work w/o asking my doctor. SO: I'd not trust it without getting a firm "yes" from my doctor beforehand...

Yeah, I hear that you can do that. Especially if you have the flu or something and can't keep anything down....So, yeah, I think that's correct....

I've heard this, and I think it's better to take it orally, but if you can't, then you can use the insertion method.

I've always wondered what you do if you are too sick to keep your pill down. Thankfully in the 5 years that I have been on the pill I have never been too sick to take it and I have only thrown up once since being on the pill and that was late at night way after I had taken my pill.

No no no! You can't do this! I've had it drilled into my head by doctors, nurses, and biology teachers.

Pills are carefully designed to deliver the right dosage in the right place.

If a pill is supposed to dissolve in your stomach, it will be made of a certain material, design to be soluble in the conditions in your stomach and to be absorbed in the correct amount.

If it's designed to be absorbed by mucus membrane (such as your mouth or vagina) it will be designed differently, in order for the correct dose to be absorbed into your bloodstream.

If you try to take a pill by inserting it into your vagina you will either get too much of the drug or not enough.
