So I know that I'm out of it when I completely forget that tomorrow is the day I get a piece of plastic forged into my vagina for a couple of minutes. I'm just curious, I'm still considering the route of the copper IUD, but can anyone suggest a pill that is low in progestin. Also, I'm starting my relactation process, and what pills are safe during breastfeeding? I might still go with an IUD, but I'd like a general idea of what else I might be able to go for. x-posted to birthcontrol.

The mini-pill (or progestin-only pill) is safe to use during breast feeding, and while you're breast feeding, it is nearly 100% effective. You might check that out if you want to give yourself more time to think about the IUD. :)

I have had bad reactions to anything containing progestin, so is the upped estrogen bad for breastfeeding mothers?

I'm pretty sure you can't take combined pills while breastfeeding. But actually, the progestin-only pill contains less progestin than any combonation pill, if I remember correctly, so it would be your best bet anyway short of the IUD. Also, it may be that a certain type of progestin gives you problems, but that the type in the mini-pill won't. It might be worth a try, or at least a chat with your doctor. :)

I went to the docs today and I saw the little video for the ParaGard IUD, I definitely think it is the best option. Thank you for your help.
