Okay, I'm here to suggest this awesome zine that I'm reading right now and that I love to death. It is Hot Pantz. It is a Do it yourself guide to gynecology, offering herbal remedies for common vagina and menstrual linked pains and issues such as cramps, PMS, STDS, etc. It is so genius. It also gives you a lot of information on your vagina, such as what might be causing your pain. It is so pure genius and I'm glad that I got it. I suggest everyone to get it. I suggest you get it at Urban-Armor. Also, look about through the rest of the site, too, for Keepers! Sponges! Cloth pads! And all other things to help save you money. Though, their prices are rather high, so for keepers--go to this site, and for cloth pads--make your own, and for sponges--get sea sponges at the store, very cheap! Does anyone know any sites that have how-to's on making pads? I mean, I could probably make my own and have it be a success, but directions would be nice.

enjoy, and i'm curious how they turn out...i'm itching to make some myself when i get access to a sewing machine (i think sewing by hand wont' be so sturdy)

Do they still sell those "strap on" things that hold cloths around your crotch for your period? I'm bad at describing it, but it looks like a tie-able gstring with straps down on the crotch part to hold in a cloth or tissues or whatever. I think it goes under your panties.

Anyway, I'm just curious because your post reminded me of them. I remember my mom used to use them until about 7 years ago because I guess it was cheap and we didn't use to have much money. She got hers in China though, and I think they still sell them there, and she grew up there, so she was used to using it.
