sea pearls of love
Aug. 7th, 2003 11:40 pmi have been using sea sponge tampons for a few months now. i don't feel like another one of society's consumer drones. forced to spend more then 144$ a year on disposable products. products that white men are getting rich off selling me. i'm no longer another womyn who trashes 17,000 pads and tampons in her life time.
nopers i have my lil' squishy friends from the sea! all natural baby.
i feel so much better. i put them in and they feel like nothing's there! i can go swimming and there are no strings attached ^.^
some womyn have sex with them in, haven't tried that yet myself.
but it rocks my socks!!!
yeah they're better for your health, the environment, economy and happiness. if you wanna know more feel free to ask.
your cunt lovin' friend,

Date: 2003-08-07 09:23 am (UTC)for a feminist, you should educate yourself a bit more.
google for sea sponges and learn what they are before you go making blanket statements about "nastiness" and tampons. because it's not a tampon.

Date: 2003-08-07 09:39 am (UTC)"sea sponges are like tampons, in that they absorb menstrual blood and such, but they arent actually tampons. and what would be nasty about that?"
that is what a tampon is "they absorb menstrual blood and such!"

Date: 2003-08-07 08:15 pm (UTC)in fact, only lunacup/keeper/instead doesn't absorb blood.
BUT, a sea sponge is probably a fifth of the size of a tampon. so your vagina isn't being taken up by a wad of bleached cotton. so sex is probably fine. it's not right for everyone, i'm sure, but it's no reason for you to freak out.
unless you have a problem with menstrual blood in general. in which case, i'm sorry, but you're a chick. ta daa.

Date: 2003-08-07 11:04 am (UTC)sea sponges are NOT tampons. theyre sponges, which is what your vagina feels like to a penis, so i dont see why it would be a big deal.

I would love a short personal experience blurb about using sea sponges, if you're interested. It can be as short or long as you want, just under 600 words, please. You'll find my email on the site. Thanks!

Date: 2003-08-07 08:54 am (UTC)couple of questions. where do you get yours? and do they leak? I've been on the keeper for about a year now, and would love to try out something new.
does the whole dead animal thing bug you? I might think I am shoving a dead thing up my cooch. thoughts?

Date: 2003-08-07 09:26 am (UTC)when i had a period, i thought i was on the cutting edge for using ob. hah!
though i'm currently on depo and am therefore without period, i'll definitely try sea sponges when i'm off depo.
did you cut yours down to a certain size? i think that's the only thing about sea sponges that's a tad daunting.

Date: 2003-08-07 01:13 pm (UTC)and as for the dead animal thing. i would definitely not put a dead animal up my vagina! (i'm vegan) sea sponges are plants. and when they are picked millions of seeds spread out into the water to grow more sponges! making it a renewable source. waaahoo.
having sex with it in, i wish i could speak from experience. i haven't had sex with one in but i have made out with one in, (been fingered with one in) and it was just fine. it wasn't all gross and bloody, i had forgotten it was in, and my partner didn't seem to mind at all.
i would never have sex or let someone stick their finger up my cunt with a tampon in. but yeah like it has been said, they are alot different from tampons, they are not tampons.
and it wont get lost up there i promise ^_^
to buy them, go to your local health food store, they might not be next to the tampons so look around or ask a employee. or you can order them offline at the website someone suggested before.
there are forty-five hundred different kinds of sea sponges. some are small and soft and just the right size, some have more texture and need to be cut to size.
the only thing that can be tricky, is that every time they are to full (they will leak just like tampons do, these leek when they are full and your vagina tights up around them, like when you laugh, yell, or jump...hehe) so you need to rinse them out with hot water and when you are in a public restroom some womyn may not feel good about doing that. (i don't mind, people can get used to seeing the stuff, and stop being ashamed of it, like society has taught us to be) but you can buy two and carry a plastic zip lock baggie to store the one that needs to be washed, and wash it when no one's looking.
i suggest you all should at least try sponges out!
your fellow cunt lovein' friend!

Date: 2003-08-08 04:06 am (UTC)I'd like to try them someday when I get rid of this recurrent UTI. I can't seem to kill the damn things and I'm afraid that anything reusable may harbor bacteria, so disposable is the way for me for now.
But thank you for letting me know, they look like a very comfortable option... and I know I'd feel good about myself not generating so much trash.
