my birth control pill has been switched AGAIN!

i am becoming a one woman oral contraception info centre.

[ortho-cylcen'll make you spot and clear up your acne; alesse'll make you spot TONNES and give you acne; and marvelon'll make you feel GROSS. see what i mean?]

anyway, now i'm on minovril. anyone got the skinny on that? just so i'm prepared this time.

The funky thing about the BCP is that they react differently with all of us. I have found though, after like you switching and switching and switching, that Loestrin worked the best. A lot of my friends are now taking this one and have all had less moodiness, less cramps, no acne, and no spotting. I had a terrible experience with Nordette and friends have as well. But again, it all depends on your make-up. Frustrating, I know.

im on tri levlen ("generic" of ortho cyclen) was for about 2 years... went off ( then on depo provera... don't get me started on that) now back on for the past 6 months. and i have no complaints. my boobs just get pretty sore for about a week :/ and I get PMS totally... but its really predictable and actually not as bad as when im not on anything.

I've been on Alesse-28 for going on 3 years now, and the only problems I've had is twice I would miss two or more pills and I'd start spotting like crazy, it wouldn't stop until after my week of sugar pills, when my period was supposed to end. It's a really low dose, too

I was on Marvelon for a while - and yup, felt pretty damned gross - my doc put me on mercilon - made by the same people, similar kind of thing - problems went away completey. Might be worth bearing in mind if this new one doesn't work out - but hopefully it will :)

unless you're using the pill for a very specific reason (to keep from getting pregnant, or because you have a hormonal imbalance, for instance) this could be seriously hurting your body. changing pills a lot messes with your hormone levels a great deal. i would suggest talking to your doctor to see if there's another alternative.

I am so glad I'm not on the pill!

I was put on ovral (not Lo-ovral) when I was 15 and had morning sickness all day long for entire the year I took it. I got switched to tri-levlen and had no problems at all. I took a break for a while then was put on tri-cyclen and had the most hiddeous periods (Id start with awful cramps then golfball sized clots!) Didn't stay on that long.

Finally, a therapist told me no mor BCPs because I was being treated for clinical depression and BCPs can make depression worse.

I wish I had more info and I am sorry you are having so much trouble! Actually, I wish men had to take the pill, it would be 100% effective and have no side effects! You know they wouldn't stand for anything less!
