Ceased pill while in hospital, what now?

Hello hello :)

Now these are all questions I probably should have asked my doctor while in hospital, but amongst everything, I forgot and I don't have a GP right now to ask.

I've been on a triphasic HBC for a few years now. Everything is fine and dandy, until I ended up in hospital a couple of days ago. Whilst I was in hospital, I was on 3 kinds of antibiotics initially (waiting for the YI now...) and they had me on 2 shots of Heparin (blood thinning) a day. So I chose not to take my pill while I was in hospital, especially as I was unsure as to whether or not I was going to have surgery (it seems I might be having it in a month).

My periods are very regular, I always get it on a Tuesday. This coming Tuesday is when I should be getting it, but obviously stopping taking the pill mucks around with it. I've never actually stopped taking the pill like this, I've started spotting today, and I'm a bit unsure as to when I should go back on it! Should I start a new pack now, wait until it's clear my period is coming or..?

It probably wouldn't hurt to wait until your period actually began, if only so you can prevent some breakthrough bleeding.
