Yeah, so I feel that all I do these days is spam this comm with my endless YI/BV problems.  So I feel like I've tried just about everything, but I'm very very curious about boric acid.  Now, no local pharmacy around me seems to sell it, and my mom isn't too enthused about the idea of me playing jr. chemist with powder and empty capsules.

I've been thinking about trying these Yeast Arrest suppositories, www.rockwellnutrition.com/Yeast-Arrest-Boric-Acid-by-Vitanica-Non-Returnable-_p_845.html
But I'd really like to hear about personal experiences with these.  I noticed they had other anti yeast ingredients, which is good, but I'd also like to know how they compare to just plain boric acid.

Thankies in advance

I've never used this so I can't offer advice. If you do try it please let me know how it works, I might try it as well!

I love Yeast Arrest. Playing with empty capsule would be a bad idea for me, and the Yeast Arrest capsules work great.

Does that Yeast Arrest stuff just treat YI symptoms or does it treat the YI itself? I'm always on the lookout for different approaches to dry, as I'm somewhat YI-prone.

I like Yeast Arrest a lot. It's about as good as plain boric acid capsules, and it works on BV too.

borax is a salt of boric acid. According to wikipedia, its easily converted to boric acid...but I'm not sure how/under what conditions. Anyway, yeah, they're quite similar.

What's especially interesting, now that I'm looking at it more closely, is that it claims to be a homeopathic formula, meaning the active ingredients would be EXTREMELY diluted. Since boric acid is the first inactive ingredient, and the active ingredients are homeopathic doses, it would appear that yeast arrest is actually MOSTLY boric acid...which just seems so weird. Because that means its not a homeopathic treatment...its a boric acid treatment with added homeopathic components.

Not very truthful or clear advertising, IMO.

I'm not positive if there's a difference, to tell you the truth. I don't THINK there but I'm not totally positive.

I do know that if you order from americarx.com, the stuff they have in their pharmacy section is safe for use. So is anything stamped with "NF" for national formulary, or anything with a brand name indicating phamaceutical use (e.g. the stuff from americanrx is made by "preferred pharmaceutics" or something).

The safe stuff WILL say "poison" on the bottle, but WON'T have instructions for roach killing. ;)

By the way, you can also just douche with a solution of boric acid and water...saves the cost and annoyance of the capsules. :)
