I've tried monostat various times, and it NEVER goes away. I've tried the diflucan pills as well, no luck. :( I also tried the acidophilus pills. Took them orally though. ANYWAY, getting to my point - I purchased boric acid powder to douche, but I don't know exactly how to go about doing it. I've never douched before. I have a syringe and everything, I just don't know what to do next. Help, please?! I'm so tired of having this damn yeast infection! :(

Thanks in advance!

I've heard yogurt helps.

Boric acid will help with yeast or BV, so you're covered there, as you may know.

All you do is this: Take a spoonful of boric acid, and mix it with some warm water. The proportions here don't really matter, although I suspect it'd be a moot point if you diluted it too much. Suck the solution into the needle-less syringe. Stand in the bathtub/shower/over the toilet, and squirt the solution into your vagina.

That's all there is to it! Just be sure that the water is flowing back out as you squirt - you want to avoid forming a seal between the syringe and your vag, because you don't want to be forcing water through your cervix. I sometimes stick a finger in there next to the syringe to make sure the water can easily flow out.

there is also the garlic method which can be used for both kinds of infections as well.

take a clove of garlic, peal it and make a slice in it so that the inside is exposed and insert it in the vaginal cavity at night and remove in the morning. you can use a needle and thread to make a loop though the garlic so that it is easier to get out in the am.
it works beautifully!
also, some PLAIN non sugared/flavored yogurt can be used (stick a cardboard tampon in a container for a few mins), stick the whole thing in and pull it out without popping the tampon. you can also use some on the external areas or soothing - but this only works if it is a yeast infection - not for BV.
The garlic work for both kinds of infections.

I think the recommended boric acid/water proportion is typically a tablespoon of boric acid per cup of water.

I use way more than that! Oh well. Given that people insert capsules of boric acid, I figure it doesn't matter much.

Good luck getting all that cleared up! On the off chance that boric acid and garlic fail, it may be worth seeing a doctor to check if something in particular is causing the recurrence - but that's an off chance and in all likelihood will not prove necessary.

(And, slightly off-topic: your icon is the most adorable thing I have seen in YEARS.)
