Sorry if there's TMI. I'm a little worried.
I had unprotected sex Friday night. I have been on birth control, but had to stop for about a month. I started again last night. I took Plan B (the first pill) at 5pm 48 hours after I had unprotected sex. I then missed the second Plan B pill. In about 12 hours... it will have been 72 hours after the unprotected sex.
Should I get another Plan B pack and take it now and 12 hours from now, or should I just let it go and hope I don't get pregnant? I also finished my period the day before the unprotected sex, so I don't know if that lowers the risk of pregnancy...
Thanks for the help.

Date: 2009-04-13 04:20 pm (UTC)You do not have to take the pills separately. You can take both together. The reason it is advised to take them separately is to reduce the risk of side-effects; but if it helps with remembering, you can take them at the same time.

Date: 2009-04-13 04:28 pm (UTC)From the timing, depending on how long your cycles usually are, your ovaries are likely to be hypnotized by the HBC before they get around to ovulating -- but if you have short cycles or a randomly-early ovulation, it could be an issue.
So... Hm. I'd call the pharmacist/your doctor (one or t'other, whichever'd be more helpful), and if I couldn't get hold of them, I'd take the leftover Plan B pill anyway, on the grounds that it wouldn't make one's ovaries more likely to ovulate (i.e., it probably wouldn't hurt). Then I'd keep trying to get hold of the doctor/pharmacist to double-check if I needed another dose of the stuff, but probably not too frantically -- the HBC will be cutting in as well, so unless you were having a really early ovulation, you're probably going to be okay.
However, I'd hop over to a drug store (or, if you have one in the area, a Dollar Tree store) and look for some inexpensive pregnancy tests for when you're at the end of the placebo pills. Because if it was me? I'd personally have a little niggly feeling at the back of my head till I knew for sure, and it's be a big relief to have that "Nope! Not pregnant!" line.
(Okay, I fib; the last time I did that, I was into PMS enough that the "not pregnant" line wound up making me depressed. *headdesk*)
Good luck!
