Hey all,
So I have been having issue after issue with HBC and I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice or share personal experiences.

I was on Mircette for about a year, and then I started getting yeast infections every single month like clockwork. My MD then put me on Microgestin, but because the estrogen level was so low I started getting ovarian cysts and my period stopped. I then went from Microgestin to the NuvaRing, but the NuvaRing seems to have a higher risk of blood clots (which runs in my family) and it was causing cramping and it never seemed to stay in place. Planned parenthood wants to try ortho tricyclen next, but after what I've read about it (weight gain, extreme moodiness, depression, and the development of ovarian cysts) I don't even want to try it. I really liked the NuvaRing except for the fear of blood clots and the fact that it caused cramping. Is there a pill with a similar dose of hormone? Also, what do you all think about Implanon?

Thank you for your help!

Have you ever considered an IUD? Considering the fact that blood clots run in your family I would try something without estrogen. Right now I take a POP which is ok, except its not very good at controlling cycles but as far as pregnancy protection goes its great as long as I take it at the same time everyday.

Implanon would also be a good option for something estrogen free. The only downside to it is that you might have a possible reaction to the hormones whereas a copper IUD contains no hormones.

Just curious, where did you hear that nuvaring carries a higher risk of clots? I've never heard that. I just googled it, and the sites I found claiming that there's a higher risk were all attorney's sites offering to sue for you. The nuvaring site says it is unknown whether the risk is greater than with pills, and I think they legally have to tell the truth on their website. I think you should do some more research about this, because it sounds like nuvaring was working for you and it would be a shame to quit if this increased risk of clots thing is not true.

Good luck!
