oookkkaay.

so last week, my vag started feeling a bit strange. slightly irritated, but nothing big. i started taking acidophilus every day to counteract anything bad that may be going on. then it started getting really super itchy and dischargey and things, so i figured i had a yeast infection (i've had them before). i used an otc remedy, the ovule 3day kind. i finished the treatment saturday night, and my period started sunday. my downstairs was feeling better by then, so i figured everything was clear and away we go.

which brings me to tonight. i used a tampon earlier to go swimming, and after that things started feeling funny again. it's still kind of burning right around the urethral entrance, and it's getting really obnoxious. i'm thinking a uti maybe? maybe.

so now the questions.

what are the giveaway symptoms of a uti? can i see a doctor while on my period, or should i wait till it's over (probably not till saturday or so.) ? could it be something else? maybe the yeast isn't all the way gone? or maybe just irritation from tampon use?

also, i don't use scented pads, and i've changed mine a bunch of times today.

god. what a pile of tmi. but i trust you guys.

thanks in advance!

Everyone gets slightly different UTI symptoms I think but mine are; cloudy pee with a strange smell (sort of acrid?), pain when and after I pee that's pretty unbearable by the 3rd day, and I need to pee all the time.

The test for a UTI is just peeing into a cup, so you should be able to get that done when you've got your period

If you were thinking of getting a YI test, I've had a swab test while on my period and my doctor said it wouldn't effect it. It didn't pick anything up though and I'm pretty sure that it was because I'd been using a tampon that day. So my advice is to wear a pad when you see your doctor.

I get what I understand to be the classic symptoms of UTI's. It burns slightly when I pee and I have to pee all the time. Then when I do pee and there's nothing left it feels like my urethra is dry heaving (what a great visual, but that's what it reminds me of). It's like there's a constant annoying pressure like you have to pee right around your urethra.

Your period shouldn't effect the ability of a doctor to diagnose you.
