I saw an ad in Parents magazine today for summers eve products. It was advertising "feminine lotion" it said " now you can put your ltion on everywhere, (and we mean everywhere" what the heck would you need lotion for your girlie parts for??? Ok, lube for sex, yes, but a body lotion for it?? What?? My vagina is nice and moist as it is, it doesnt need lotion...do they really need lotion??

Summers Eve is a company that makes money by convincing women to be uncomfortable with their vaginas. You don't need vaginal lotion. You certainly don't need vaginal douches - their main product line. I will bless the day when they go out of business through lack of interest.

OMG I thought it was hilarious when I saw the commercial for the Summers Eve deoderant spray that you carry around with you. But then I also saw the add for the lotion stuff and laughed even harder.

A lot of people probably think it's gross because of all these stupid "feminine needs" products that make us think that our vaginas are dirty/smelly/whatever. Grr.

Peri- and post-menopausal women frequently experience vaginal dryness, and some use moisturizers to relieve this. Other than that, there's no real need for products like that.

well, yeah, but you could use aloe vera gel anywhere else on your body too, and we still make special moisturizers for elbows, lips, feet, fingernails, under eyes, legs, hands, and foreheads. I can't fault a woman for not knowing that it's safe/okay to put aloe vera on her vagina. It's also possible that a vaginal moisturizer might actually work better on the vagina; I'm not sure how they're formulated.

I saw that same ad when I got the magazine. I think it's just a way to make us feel insecure with ourselves. I've only noticed them in parenting magazines though. Is it because a lot of women already feel bad about their bodies after childbirth? I know I did, but I've come to deal with the fact that I'm still not to my prepregnancy weight. That's my whole take on the lotion thing.

I actually agree with that too.. Im FAR from my pre pregnant weight, (who am I kidding? Im above my delivery day weight!)and I really feel bad about it most of the time. But its very hard to make me feel bad about my vagina! :)

I use summer's eve feminine wash... But that's because I get UTI and Bacterial Vaginosis and all that good stuff very easily... I need to wash down there very well but using regular soap is BAD

hrm i use lotion on my mons pubis because tend skin makes my skin so dry i peel.. but i just use sensitive formula lubridrem left over from my tattoos :P
