Not easy to find information on sore nipples that does NOT pertain to pregnancy and/or breastfeeding. ack.

I woke up this morning with the feeling that someone was poking a needle into my left nipple. Just to be sure, I checked, and I was, in fact, in my bed and not a piercing salon.

Anyhoo, the damn nipple has been bugging me all day. It looks fine, no discharge or anything, but the damn thing HURTS. Has anyone experienced such a thing before?

Luckily, I'm going for a physical on wednesday anyway, but It would be nice to hear from anyone as to what this might be so I'm not worrying for nothing. I can't seem to find anything online.

mayhaps you were pinching/squishing it in your sleep and it's taking a while to stop the hurting, you may have been squishing it all night without noticing. pre-period nipples are usually sore anyway, so if this is the case for you and it was sleep-squished, then i can see the pain lingering.

a friend of mine once had crazy nipple pain, couldn't wear a bra or anything. she went to the dr and it was a problem with her mammorary(sp?) gland.....what produces milk. gave her some pills and it was better.
