My SO and I have a limited window of time for me to go and visit him (LDR), and unfortunately that window falls right during period week for me. He's not real comfortable with sexual activity during my period, and I'm not real comfortable with not having any such activities while I'm visiting. ;) I've seen lots of info about how to bring on a period early (i.e., parsley tea, which I'll probably try) and it got me thinking... is there any way to delay a period if you're not on HBC?

Have you ever tried a product called Instead?
Use it instead of tampons, can still have sex, no mess, and it's like $5 for 12 of them and you can keep them in for 12 hours at a time.
Check it out at http://www.softcup.com and you can even buy them at grocery stores and Wal-Marts.

I'm not for sure, I've used them once as an alternative to tampons so I could have sex, but I have a different boyfriend now and he doesn't mind sex while I'm menstruating, so I don't use them anymore.
You could probably research it, though.

I have this same problem every so often. I also cannot take HBC for any prolonged length of time (i.e. a full month- it makes me soooo ill) so whenever my ldr boy and I get to see each other (once every six months at the moment) and I am due my period I contact my GP and get a Norethisterone prescription.

The dose is 5mg three times a day starting 3-4 days before a period is due.
If memory serves you can take it for up to two weeks. After you stop taking it your period should turn up 2-3 days after (it varies for me: sometimes it's dead on three days, last time it was eight days)

Some women find that they spot with it, but that's the same as skipping with hbc. It is however important to note that Norethisterone is NOT a form of birth control and you should use other forms of protection if pregnancy is a concern. It can also make you a bit moody and bloated feeling, but I find that only happens after a straight week or more of using it. Hope that was helpful :)
