BV and Metronidazole

I have been fighting a BV infection for three weeks now...I am so flustered with this it isn't funny.

The first round of oral Metronidazole did not do it's job. PP thought it was maybe because I vomited within the first 48 hours of treatment. So when I called them and told them I was still having symptoms three days after treatment was over they prescribed me Metronidazole gel five day once a day at bedtime dosage.

Well I took the last dosage on tuesday. Since I have been having this very clumpy white discharge. It doesn't have much of scent, and looks almost like finger paste....you know the kind that some kids liked to try and eat? The bv was white but looked more milky if that makes sense.

Is this normal??? Is it possible that the BV mutated??? Is it possible that I could have a yeast infection? It doesn't itch that's what stopping me from thinking it's a yeast but can there be yeast without itching?

I am at wits end! I do not want to pay another 82 dollars for more medicine and I really really miss my sex life :(

When I was on the gel I got a discharge that was almost like silly string... It really freaked me out, but when i called my doc, and looked online I discovered that it is perfectly normal. Apparently not all the gel is absorbed or what not, and your vag dispels what it does not use/ need- so what you are getting it the gel itse;f, not even true discharge. I hope that makes you feel better, and that you are feeling better enough in *that* department soon too.

I would have freaked out too if I found something coming out of me that looked like silly string! Thanks! I feel better :-) If things aren't normal after my period...which comes in a couple days...I will go back to the doc but for now I am going to relax :)

Metronidazole sucks for me, at least the gel kind... man f that s it did not work. That was totally not worth it. It took forever to insert & it was so painful & IT DIDN'T WORK

Now oral Cipro, on the other hand... nice broad-spectrum antibiotic, THAT did the trick & it did not come back.

It is a pain in the ass! I am glad to know I am not the only who has had this problem with this crap. Did it make you puke too? It did me :(

If it turns out that that this didn't work I will ask for Cipro next time.

No it didn't make me puke it just made me cry & freak out cuz the applicator was just pure utter torture.

Metronidazole didn't clear the infection for me either, just made me feel like death. I'd ask for some Clindesse, that worked really well for me, or at least some other drug. They can't expect a different outcome from something that hasn't worked in the past.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who has had this problem! Made me fee ill too...I even vomited in the dining area at work in front of customers even :( I was so pissed when I found out that the gel they prescribed me was the same stuff as the first round because it just didn't make sense ya know?
