Pelvic exam + period ?

I have an exam today at 2. However I feel the beginnings of my period coming on (cramps, sore boobs, etc) and it is about that time couple days early but it is irregular lately. I haven't had any blood or discharge yet though. Should I go or not? I'm sure they have seen it all and are not grossed out if there is blood. It could start today or days from now I'm not sure...Would you go?

Are you talking about a pap smear?

Go, and if your period starts by the time you get there, you can cancel while you're there.

I totally didn't see what community this was in and thought it was a written exam. Eep!

I don't think they can get a good pap view when you're bleeding. It's worth calling to ask.

If you haven't started bleeding yet, go. But if you do start -- call them. Different places have different policies, but paps often don't come out right when they're contaminated with menstrual fluid.

Thanks guys! I ended up starting so I called. I was going in to get birth control and what they are going to do is just give me a consultation and give me the birth control and I have to reschedule for the exam. Just in case anyone else is in the same boat. I know every place is different probably.
