I was just urged to post this here...linked from naturalbirth originally.

http://mybeautifulcervix.googlepages.com/ is a photo blog of a woman's cervix throughout her cycle. The pictures are beautiful, very up-close, and incredibly interesting. Hope you enjoy!

That's awesome. Thank you so much for posting!

I think it's very interesting how in some of the pictures the cervix looks kind of like the head of a penis (I've had a couple of glasses of wine, so I made my husband drop his pants to confirm, haha).

I thought that too but a little more than kind of. and yeah... it's interesting... I really can't think of a better word to describe how I feel about it.

Same. It's like a big "fuck you" to everyone who says the two sexes are soooo different. Because there ARE some physical commonalities. =o)

To amend (before anyone reads too much into what I say), I'm speaking more from the standpoint of the men who say "WE HAVE A PENIS, WE ARE BETTAR." Well, these pictures prove that we have something that LOOKS like what they have, only ours is more productive. Empowerment, ftw.

This is also helpful to those of us who were/are obsessively trying to conceive and were/are OBSESSED with the states of our cervices everday.

I... think I love your for the fact that you asked your husband to do that, and love your husband for actually dropping trou so you can see. :)

I just like that he did it, and THEN once his pants were around his ankles asked "Um, why?". LOL, he's great.

I'll admit I felt a bit nauseous while looking at that, having just eaten some sweets (which would occur had I been looking at any internal body part/fluid) but that is just beautiful. I never knew my body look like that. Also it's good to see that my cervical fluid is exactly as the pictures shown, but I guess I was just being paranoid.

That is so so awesome! I also love the phrase "feeling emotionally tender".

that is awesome. It is funny about the predominant idea about creamy or milky white discharge from women being a sign of infection or hygiene when it is just a part of our bodies. I was happy to see that. I just showed my BF my cervix the other day. He had never seen one before, it was like he was in science lab discovering the unknown, he was fascinated.

how did you do that? did you use a speculum? i'm interested in doing this too but i don't have a speculum!

yes, I have a metal speculum from years ago but you can buy see through plastic ones at (I think) medical supply stores. It was a really intimate experience because you know, I am not young and have had plenty of partners who thought they knew my body but not one of them was that interested in actually viewing my cervix. My BF was in love with it! He said 'wow, a baby comes from that tiny space?' and 'so THAT is what it looks like. This is the first time I've seen one'. He is almost 49.

Neat.

How would one take pictures, though? I don't think I could manage it.

The website says she utilized a "talented boyfriend with a headlamp." I don't think this would be possible without some outside help :p

OP: Thanks for posting this!

Wow. That is totally fascinating. It's crazy to see how much the cervix moves throughout the cycle. And the variety of fluid texture/amount/color.

I'm totally linking that to everybody I know.
