Hi, I was searching the archives earlier about inducing my period. Its irregular due to my pill (Cerazette 12-hour POP, not sure how common it is). There was a discussion on this tagged page that mentions whether it is the dip in oestrogen or progesterone (I thought it would be progesterone, but I know very little about it) that causes a period.

As my pill is a POP, would not taking for a couple of days cause my period to turn up? My cycle can be anything from two weeks to a couple of months and I can't remember last time I had one.

Not sure if this is off-topic, but it kinda explained why I want to induce!
I just happen to be a little nervous, even though pregnancy is very unlikely (No actual sex since May, because its always been so painful for the past 3 years I try and avoid it, stupid I know, but thats another thing altogether). Also I think I have only missed one pill the past month because I threw up, which doesn't co-incide with any intimacy (pre-come worries) etc. I'm just a worry-wart. I would make the parsley tea, but my Mum is very nosy and there is no chance of making it without her asking what I'm doing! As a 21 year old I really should be able to tell her but as I said, that would lead into other discussion and um...no.

So yeah, sorry I rambled, but would really appreciate any input :D

I've just started the same pill as you so I've been researching it today and I know that on that particular pill, it is really common to not have a period or to have them be irregular and you shouldn't worry. Whereas not taking it for a couple of days would compromise your protection. It'd be more straightforward to take a pregnancy test if you're worried because bleeding might not mean anything in this context. On Cerazette, a lot of women don't ovulate apparently.

Its a dip in both oestrogen and progesterone that cause your period to come. Since this is a progesterone only pill its very likely to make you miss a period, and since you havent had sex since May, I wouldnt be concerned at all about pregnancy.

Not taking it for a few days might or might not cause your period to show up because it depends on how much you have in your system as to how long it would take to dissipate from your body. Depending on how much progesterone is in the contaceptive, it could take longer than a few days for it to fully get out of your system and for your period to arrive.

Hope that helps :)
