I've been sexually active for 6 years...5 of those years included my primary partner who I have lived with for the last 3-4 years. [We are poly and I have other lovers, but the majority of my sex has been with him]
For the last..oh...6 months or so I'd say, at the least [it might be more like 9 months], I've been having a much more difficult time with sex.
Sometimes it appears to take me a lot longer to get wet [and sometimes I do not at all, and we use lube] and often the actual intercourse is painful. It never was before. I used to feel that my partner's size was perfect, and now it seems too thick...while I never measured and so cannot be 100% sure, I'm fairly confident in saying I doubt it's his size that has changed.
I have lost a good deal of weight I suppose, and so for awhile I thought maybe it was just differing estrogen levels interfering with my getting wet and it would level out. Well, it has not.
Dunno if this is related but I have also had my first yeast infections this year. April saw me going to a party 9 hours away where I did not eat or sleep much for something like 48 hours [not planned, just did not work out] and when I got back home, I had a yeast infection. Sigh. Then in August I went away for 2 weeks to a camping event, and I suppose my environment must have been very different, the things I was eating and the times I was sleeping (I only recall one night in those 2 weeks where I did not sleep, but I'm sure the times had shifted, and maybe I got less sleep or less restful sleep?); but for whatever reason, upon my return I discovered I had a yeast infection. Well, they both went away within a week with use of garlic and over the counter meds.
Sex while having a yeast infection [occasionally because I did not yet know I had it (and the very painful sex was my clue) and then occasionally cause I'd think it was healed...] was extremely painful, more so than regular pain I've been getting of late.
And yet they did not seem to be very different sorts of pain...still the feeling that what was in me was too big, and an almost sting-y pain. After sex it goes away almost immediately [naturally, I pee after sex, which may help to chase the pain away, I dunno].
So, I was wondering if anyone else had had any similar problems or clues as to what's going on. It's possible I just require more foreplay these days and the only real problem is insufficient natural lube/being insufficiently turned on...and/or possibly still estrogen levels out of wack with my gradual weight loss [which is still continually, methinks]...anyway just thought I'd throw it out here and see what folks thought. Thanks!

Date: 2008-09-07 11:13 pm (UTC)You've had a low grade yeast infection this whole time. I had one for like six months (and am finally getting healed up, yay!) and that was exactly how I felt - most of the time it felt fine but whenever I tried to have sex, my vag felt so dry, I had dryness issues, and it felt like my vag had gotten smaller. Especially since you say it feels like the same TYPE of pain as when you did have a yeast infection, I think that chronic yeast is definitely an avenue you might check out. You can always go get swabbed at the gyno if you want confirmation of that.
What I did to get rid of my infection(s) was get a bunch of boric acid and some azo yeast pills. I've been taking one azo yeast each day (along with acidophilus when I remember). I put a teaspoon of boric acid in a dollop of water (like an inch of hot water in a mug) and use a giant needle-less syringe to gently squirt it into my vag. I did that every day for about a week, and am now down to every few days. I plan to taper down so I'm not doing it at all, except right before my period which tends to be when my infection flares up. Anyway, maybe that would work for you too. The problem with OTC treatments is that your pH never gets restored, so your vagina is just out of balance and so its unable to fight yeast. Supposedly, the boric acid helps things get back in balance, in addition to killing the yeast.
