is it true that drinking cranberry juice can help cure your yeast infection?

Curing them is more about taking antibiotics, but cranberry juice is very good for the prevention of yeast infections, as well as UTIs.

Antibiotics will not cure a yeast infection, as yeast is not bacteria.

Huh. I seem to remember taking antibiotics for one once.

Maybe I'm confusing it with something else. :x

Yes, you are thinking of a UTI.

Edit, I'm too tired and can't read. But Cranberry Juice won't help prevent a UTI. Are you thinking of BV?

Hmm, cranberry juice is pretty infamous for helping to prevent UTIs, actually... Of course, it obviously won't prevent Every Single UTI, but it's good to have in a prevention regimen =)

dear gods I AM tired. I mean it won't help prevent a YI. It will help prevent or keep of a UTI pretty well, but once one is in full swing ya better get your butt to a doc.

yeah, I was under the impression that diflucan was an antifungal and an antibiotic.

*shrugs* eh, all I know is it works and I thank the gods it exists.

Indeed. It throws off the delicate balance in the nether regions. Then you produce more yeast, and hence, get a yeast infection.

some antibiotics can contribute to the development of a yeast infection, generally more broad spectrum ones. There are others doctors prescribe which target specific types of bacteria and don't affect vaginal bacteria.

yes, some antibiotics can cause yeast infections.

The explanation: there is a natural balance of bacteria and yeast in the vagina and these keep each other in check but certain antibiotics will kill the good bacteria of the vagina, meaning that the yeast can get out of control.

Are you thinking of a UTI? It won't cure them, but it can help prevent one from setting in. For a UTI you need to go to the Dr.

I don't believe cranberry juice has any impact on yeast infections (except that possibly drinking all that sugar might not help?). If it's bad, try monistat or some comparable over the counter remedy. You could also try garlic (insert clove, some say peeled others say unpeeled, remove/change every 8-12 hours or so) or some folks use tea tree oil or even apple cider vinegar, but both tend to *really* burn.

Cranberry juice is a preventative for a UTI. If you have a UTI or suspect you might please visit a doctor for antibiotics to cure yourself of it before the infection has a chance to turn into a kidney infection!

If you have never had a yeast infection before, it is best to make sure you have one before treating by either visiting the doctor (he/she could also prescribe you with a pill to cure the infection) or purchasing a home infection detection kit (Vagisil and other companies produce these.)

Yeast infections can be treated several different ways, including over the counter treatments and home remedies. I have had a high success rate with the Monistat one day treatment, which is essentially a little capsule that is inserted into the vagina with an applicator. A panty liner should be laid down because the capsule will eventually melt and some will leak out.

Good luck!
