Anybody on IUD and experiences period-like cramping without the actual period? I got my IUD in August (07), only got a period right after the IUD was inserted then after that I never got any periods again. Although, I do experience cramping every month. Is that normal?

Is it a Mirena IUD? If so, then it's reasonably common based on what I've read here and in [livejournal.com profile] iud_divas. Something like 20% of women stop having periods entirely on it, and most who do still have periods have irregular and/or light ones. However, some Mirena users have mentioned that they feel occasional twinges/cramping when their periods would be due (or when they think their periods would be due), only without the actual bleeding.

I'm assuming you have a Mirena, no? If so, it appears that some Mirena users experience cramping at certain times of the month or intermittently during the life of the IUD, even if they no longer have a period. Here's the link to Mirena side effects:

Also, you may find lots of information regarding your IUD on the iud_divas community here on LJ. They are fabulous women that provide the most objective and informative posts regarding everything IUDs. Good luck!

With my Mirena I had 'invisible periods'. I'd get every usual symptom of a normal period, just no bleeding. It was so weird!

I got a Paragard; had my first period right after insertion (not ust post-insertion beeding.) Then 57 days later (after a 10 day period) I gt my 2nd period. At first there was no cramping, however I've been having some mild cramping throughout the entire thing (I've been bleeding for 6 days so far.)When I wasn't bleeding I woudl jsut get phantom cramping.
