try Ibuprofen. it apparently neutralizes prostaglandins (which cause the cramps) in addition to relieving pain. other than that... orgasm, deep breathing, or prescriptions are the only other things i've tried.

I'm not trying to be ignorant or assume that you do drugs, but I've found that for the worse cramps, marijuana is the best remedy. It also really helps the edginess. Anyways, just thought I'd offer the suggestion since it has helped me so much.

... if the Midol has ibuprofen, aspirin, or naproxen sodium you do NOT want to take more ibuprofen; can upset your stomach!

... that said, if it doesn't, try one of those three (esp. first and last) with a full glass of water (at least!). Also, in general, it doesn't hurt to drink plenty of water--even if you don't feel the difference, it helps your body deal with things. I found that rubbing ben-gay (menthol lotion usu. used for arthritis, etc) into my belly for a *long* time helped, but I think that was more from the rubbing feeling than anything; I doubt it could "penetrate" that deeply. Sure made me smell *ahem* minty-fresh, though. :)

Also.. maybe go for a walk? I know it's hard when you hurt. But endorphins--released by excercise--can be wonderful things. This has worked for me sometimes even when meds did not; it might help you. Hope you feel better!

Sex. Seriously. Or at least wank it. At the moment, I forget the precise mechanics of why it works - I just know it does.

Ah, the joys of dysmenorrhea ( assuming you are talking about menstrual cramps)I used to get them when I was younger, and an ex-girlfriend of mine used to get them very severely.
Some of the signs of dymenorrhea are:
1.cramps start with the onset of period, lasts for days
2. nausea/vomiting/diarrhea (maybe)
3. sweating
4. lack of energy
5. depression/nervousness
Your chances of having this are greater if:
1. you consume a lot of caffeine/use nicotine
2. have a family history of painful menstrual cramps
3. have a poor diet/ lack of exercise

these are just a few suggestions:
a.between your periods, exercise regularly (that can include sex/masturbation:)
b.drink herbal teas ( and cranberry juice)
c.take vitamin B
d.reduce caffeine consumption

For all I know, you could be feeling much better now. I just thought I would post this for future reference and for anyone who is interested.

Your best bet: See your gynecologist. He/She might prescribe hormones (the pill helps)

I don't know if you live near a health food store, but these teas help too:
Cramp Bark Decoction:
2 teaspoons dried cramp bark in 1 cup water
simmer 15 mins
drink hot 3x a day
Ginger Infusion:
1 cup hot water to 1 teaspoon fresh grated root
infuse 10 mins
drink when needed

It's neat to see what different things work for diffferent people. I had nasty cramps in high school, I would be out of school for 3-4 days each cycle, just laying in bed sobbing and trying not to move. After a while I found that big doses of motrin helped a little (800 mg, at the time they had to be Rxed) and that stretch they taught us in health class in school where you stand facing the wall, feet a step or so back, prop yourself against the wall with your elbows and press your hips toward the wall like youre trying to touch the wall with your belly button. At first it hurts like hell but after a few stretches it seems to relax and feel better for a few hours.
