new HBC user

hey everyone! i'm 19 and was just perscribed HBC today and my doctor told me to take it the sunday after i start my period.

my bf and i were using condoms but one broke (he didn't ejaculate) but i was still freaking out over the pre-stuff so i took the plan B pill on friday.  i am supposed to start my period any day now and i am wonering  if taking my HBC will make it start sooner? if i begin taking the pills, when will i start my period?

basically i really want to start because hes freaking out but i think the plan B may have just messed with my cycle...can't the HBC regulate it and help me to start again? sorry i'm pretty clueless...thanks for your help! =)

Taking HBC won't make a period start any sooner -- if anything, it would delay it. Plan B can also delay a period, so there's really no way to know when your bleeding will start.

HBC "regulates" a cycle in the way that it stops your menstrual cycle. What happens is that while you are taking active pills, your menstrual cycle is suspended. When you get to the placebo week (the last week of pills), those pills have no hormones in them, and your body experiences a withdrawal bleed from the removal of hormones.

You can start HBC at any time if you want to get to protection sooner -- you will be protected after seven days. You do not need to wait for the Sunday after your period.

However, starting them now won't make your period come sooner. It may delay your period for a full month. Or it may lead to breakthrough bleeding or spotting.

If you do want to wait for your period to begin taking HBC, then your best bet is to sit tight and just wait. For what it's worth, if you were supposed to start your period "any day now," you were highly unlikely to be in a fertile period when the condom broke, and in addition to taking Plan B, pregnancy would be very unlikely.

Additionally, if he didn't ejaculate, and had not ejaculated during the day before you had sex, it is highly unlikely that his pre-come contained any sperm.
