Ok, I was told that the pink pills ("inactive") are basically a reminder pill you take during your period. Ok so I was told I really do not need to take that pill for the seven days and stuff since it contains nothing.
When the 7 days end and I get back on the "active" white pills, on that 2st day, (sunday) does one need extra protection? I mean...havn't taken the pill for 7 days for the period...or is it that part of the cycle isnt the fertle time? I am worried, please respond...

My 'sugar pills' are green. I never take my last week reminders or green pills. I also never use extra protection after that. If you are taking the reminder pills, there is no effect physically to your body (so I have been told). It is more of a mental habit-reminder thing so that one doesn't forget to take them everyday. I've never had any problems by not taking the reminder pills.

Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct

Provided that you have determined these pills have no active hormone or necessary med (there is a pill I can think of that has iron pills for those days), then these pills merely serve as a reminder.

Nothing missed.

Nothing special required (no extra protection).

that's true -- sometimes there are iron pills, and I also know someone whose "placebos" actually have a small amount of estrogen in them to keep her from getting migraines.

however, it's true that those are, for the most part, only reminder pills. some brands even make a 21 day pack, without the placebos at all (I know Ortho does that).

That's what I thought. :) Actually, I didn't know that some reminder pills have iron in them. That's kind of neat, actually.

dood.

I think the point is the pill controls your cycle. You are only fertile at certain times of your cycle. During and just after your period you are not fertile (the lining the egg should implant on is being shed by your uterus.) Therefore no extra protection is required. And yes, reminder pills are just so you don't lose track of the days you don't take the pill.
