Hey all you super knowledgeable people...

Is it possible after a few years of taking a bc for it to just suddenly not be compatible with your body anymore?

Can you describe what you mean by not compatible?

Yep. Not in terms of protection, but in terms of side-effects. Just like your body chemistry changes with time, how your body reacts to medications will as well.

Depends on what you mean. It'll still work in terms of protection, but side effects can change over time as your body adjusts or changes.

In that case... it happened to me on both pills I've been on. After years on Zovia, I started getting horrendous menstrual migraines and had to switch. I switched to Yaz, which was great for a while, but two years later and all of a sudden my periods are totally unpredictable. Not sure what I'll move on to next!

Yes. I was on Yasmin for 3 years when suddenly I started getting every single side effect (except blood clots). It was horrible trying to figure out what it was. But I switched and it worked out fine.

Side effect wise, yep! It's happened to me with several different HBC's. Dang that body and its constantly changing.

Edited for terrible spelling from sleepy brain!

I was able to take Tylenol/Ibuprophen/Alieve for years and now it makes my jaws swell and I drool. I think its safe to say HBC can do the same (not cause the same effects, but become allergic suddenly).

It's VERY possible. I started BC partly to help relieve PMS symptoms, but after about about a year to a year and a half on something, my PMS would come back just like it had before. Then I'd switch to something new, the symptoms would go away and I'd have another year or so PMS-free.
