Last night my SO and I had a bit of an issue with a broken condom.
Because I am no where near my GP and don't own a car I called the emergency room to see if I could obtain EC from them.
They said yes and my SO and I went to the Hospital.
They gave me a bracelet and took my bloodpressure.
After that when a nurse was free she asked me a bunch of questions about my periods and alcohol and drug use.
Then she gave me the pills (plan B) and I was free to go.
The reason I didn't just go to the pharmacy is because my health insurance covered the emergency room visit and I would have had to pay around 45 dollars to get it from the pharmacy.
My only issue is that I am on my parents health insurance and I feel they will find out about my little SNAFU.
Ugh.
Well other than that the experience was perfectly pleasant.
I just wanted to post this so other people in need of EC might read this and feel a little comfort.

I'm glad you had a good experience with it. :) Because you are on your parents' insurance, they will definitely get the bill from the hospital, even if your insurance does cover it - if there's no sort of co-pay involved, they'll just get it as a notification. I'm not sure what exactly will be noted on that bill, though, or how specific it gets.

It is good that you had a good experience, however, maybe you might consider an urgent care, Planned Parenthood or something next time? I dunno, just suggesting. My ex is in med school and going into emergency medicine and they sometimes have an overwhelming amount of people in the ER for non-emergencies which takes up time/resources/etc. Just a suggestion! :)

IAWTC. I have some major medical issues and waits in emergency rooms are already really bad. =\ Echoing the "glad you got this taken care of" as well, though.

I'm also on my parents insurance. And even when we don't play anything they still get a copy of the bill. Based on how my bills look it won't be so detailed to say EC, but it will say that they gave you medication.

It seems so strange that insurance would pay for the entirety of an emergency room visit, including the medication, but not the medication over the counter at a pharmacy! Oh, insurance companies...
