weird lump near anus

I woke up and felt a weird bump by my anus, to the right. It doesn't itch, but when I push down on it it feels sore and I can feel a small hard lump. I'm not sexually active and I'm STI-free. I'm thinking it could possibly be a pimple...but I'm not completely sure.

If you have any ideas about what it might be (and what to do about it), then please suggest! Thanks.

Hi there! Would you mind editing your post so that it does not include the word "clean" to describe someone who is STI-free? Using "clean" that way implies that people who have STIs are "dirty," and we prefer not to further that harmful stereotype.

Could be hemorrhoids. They're more annoying than anything.

I've gotten blocked/infected pores there, with heat, discomfort, and the usual pimply reaction to being messed with. (Sometimes with a bit of blood if it's been infected. Have a tissue on hand.)

I felt something similar a few nights ago, and couldn't get my head far enough into my crotch to see it. :) It's disappeared so I can't even get a mirror to check it out.

Could be a pimple, or an ingrown hair. Do you shave the area where the lump is? Also, as other posters have said sounds like it could be hemorrhoids.

It sounds like an infected ingrown hair to me. I've had one before. You don't even necessarily have to shave or anything to get one, just the conditions of that area (sitting on it all the time) make it possible to get them. If it got infected, it would be sore like that. That would also explain why its hard. (The pus inside would make it tight/hard)

I second the ingrown hair idea. But, it could also be a boil? I get boils occasionally and had one near my anus a few weeks ago. It was pretty annoying, but I applied warmth and it popped after a few days. Make sure to keep the area as clean as possible!
