Inserting the Nuvaring early by accident.

I've been a Nuvaring user for about four months now. I took the ring out on Saturday (12/30) and was supposed to insert it tomorrow. For some reason I thought today was Saturday and inserted the ring at 12:30 PM. It took me about two hours to realize it wasn't Saturday and I removed it. Now I am worried because I don't think that was the right thing to do. I went to Planned Parenthood and they told me to insert the ring again today but I thought that would change everything. Can I insert a new ring tomorrow at normal time or do I have to put a ring in today and change my schedule?

Just so you know, if you left it in today you'd have been fine. :) Your "out" week doesn't affect your protection. If you'd have taken it OUT a day early, though, hence your ring was in for fewer than 21 days, your protection would have been compromised because the full level of hormones wouldn't have had sufficient time to build up in your system. Since your mistaken ring was only in for about 2 hours, though, I don't think it would have had time to do anything.

Point is, you could have left it in today and just taken it out again 3 Saturdays from tomorrow as you'd normally do. If I were you I'd just put it in asap to get it out of the way and not have to worry about it until it's time to take it out. :P

For future reference, you didn't need to remove the ring you put in today. It's never a problem to reduce the length of the hormone-free week, and NuvaRing has enough hormones in it for four weeks of use, so you could have simply left it in and taken it out 3 Saturdays from now, on your normal schedule.

That said, it really doesn't matter one way or the other, except that it was a waste of a Ring. You can put one in now if you want, or put it in tomorrow if you want. It will not affect your protection or your schedule in any way.
