Okay, so it's not like my vagina reeks or anything. It smells like any "normal" vagina would and gives off an odor every now and then... BUT I can never seem to get to intimate enough with a partner (or myself for that matter)because I'm always self-conscious about my odor. "Do I smell good enough?" "Are they gonna be grossed out?" "I wonder how my PH balance is...more acidic? More base? I hope it's base. Then it'll smell less." All this stuff and more is running through my head whenever someone tries to give me pleasure and so I'm distracted by all this leading to, well, not getting off. WHAT DO I DO? Is it true that some women's cum can taste sweet/vaginas smell good? Does it have anything to do with what you eat? How your PH balance is because of what you eat? If you eat more pineapple (fruits/veggies) will your cum taste sweeter and you'll smell less? Can something you ate that day alter the smell of your discharge/cum, like curry or meat etc? What you wear or how tightly you wear things?

If it's true that vaginas can taste/smell sweet, or just really good, I want to be that girl! I want to be THAT vagina! Haha. Help me out here please. It's something that I've been self-conscious about for many many years now and I'm sick of not fully enjoying someone's company, and not letting people give me pleasure solely because I'm self conscious about my smell...

Basically, I guess what I'm trying to find out is better vagina maintainence. I'm sure showering/washing and all that has a lot to do with it, but what else? What is it that some of you do? What are some things that you know of to get that ultimate, sweet, glowing, healthy vagina that I've always dreamed of (Haha, I sound like I'm talking about a soulmate!)!

I'm glad I found you vaginapagina. Please help me. :) Thanks so much for reading my rant, P.S.

I'm sure other people will have tips...but I just wanted to say this:

It's quite possible that you HAVE that yummy, wonderful vagina. You just don't know it yet.

i've heard of many experiences where girls said what they eat changes how they smell down there. in terms of taste, i don't know how it is for women. but my ex boyfriend was a vegetarian and his cum tasted a lot sweeter than non-vegetarians i've been with... so i would assume (red) meat might have something to do with that?

hope i could help a bit! :)

I just wanted to add in -- with people who like cunnilingus, they really like the way vaginas taste. The tart muskiness... they like it a lot.

So even if you're self-conscious, remind yourself that it's not like they're doing it just to give you pleasure -- they're doing it because they want to!

Agreed. I've asked my boyfriend what it tastes like out of curiosity, and his answer is basically "I dunno, vagina?". I figure it tastes like it smells too, like most things. And my answer is pretty much the same on what it smells like- a vagina. And apparently he loves him some vagina because that is ALWAYS where he heads first.

The important thing to remember is that it's not like you're looking for your vagina to smell like roses, or taste like cinnamon buns. I wouldn't want want my boyfriends penis to taste like a cinnamon bun. If I want a cinnamon bun I'll buy one, but penises smell like sex and sex is what I'm wanting. That natural odor is what generally turns people on. It's not neccessarily a sweet or pleasant smell but it's a smell that indicates something and triggers certain feelings.

Does that make sense? I hope so.

That totally makes sense, and makes me feel good about my vag even though I felt good about it in the first place :)

My boyfriend's penis always smells like penis. Even right after he washes it, it smells (and tastes) like penis and soap. If I was in the market for something that tasted exceptional, I'd be at a five star restaurant, not in his pants. I expect his genitals to taste like--genitals. He expects the same of mine.

I also wanted to add that I love the description of "tart muskiness". I know it's not totally grammatical (how does muskiness taste, exactly?) but it's spot-on for me. I taste exactly like that!

But... One can taste like cinnamon, if one eats cinnamon cereal that morning! ...is there something wrong with cinnamon?

I'm going with some humor here..
I was really insecure bout my girly bits for YEARS. i'm big and my cooch is like a smelly marshmallow..now really it's all poofy :) so having never seen another vagina..i thought i was a freak..and the smell...i was like.."Dude..why do i stink? i shower, i wash..and i even use baby whipes"

Then one day i decided i was gonna go down on my partner...who is now my husband..

Truthfully his external ballsack..and taint...smells just as musky.

That was the day that i said "Aha! I'm not weird!"

Now scientific note: Animals are driven by hormones and pheramones...You having a musky smell is supposed to happen.
I even went as far as tasting myself, (i was curious) and i don't taste bad, so i relaxed.

*chuckles* yup

though i think he about crawled in a hole..when i realized his penis has a freckle on it...when he's flacid you really can't see it..but when he's erect it's there and stretched. I was playing wiht him, seen it then laughed so hard i cried

I am a smoker, a big meat eater, and often fool around when I'm not exactly freshly showered. And my boyfriend absolutely loves my smell. It's not uncommon for him to look up when he's going down on me to remark, "You taste so good." I enjoy my aroma as well.

Please, try not to worry about it. I find a woman's smell/taste to be far less potent than a man's, anyway. As long as you don't have an infection or anything, I'm sure your vagina is just fine. Try to relax and not worry about it so that you can fully enjoy yourself!

I agree that if you are healthy, your vagina will taste "normal". Everyone likes different tastes and everyone is going to taste slightly different, and most guys will not be bothered at all by the taste of a clean and healthy vagina. Honestly, if a guy doesn't like it, then you are better off with someone else. After all, penises aren't made of candy. And what one guy may not like, another might love.

However, what you eat can affect the taste and smell of your vagina. I'm a vegetarian and I have a very mild semi-sweetish taste (sweet for a vagina, no vagina is going to taste like sugar). All those who tasted me have always told me that I taste/smell great, and I've tasted myself with no complaints either lol

I eat a lot of fruit (it's about my favorite thing) and drink a lot of water, don't do anything special otherwise. I just wash the general area well with water and avoid anything irritating that might cause an infection or mess up my ph balance, etc.

Similarly, my current SO is not a vegetarian, but does have a balanced diet that includes fresh fruit and veggies as well as a lot of water, and has very sweet cum. I'd say, if you maintain a healthy diet and have no infections, you will taste and smell as good as possible :)

what you eat can effect the way you smell and taste. in men and women. one thing that seems to make a huge difference is oranges!

there are also different teas that you can drink to alter the way you smell/taste. bust magazine did a review of one a few years ago called "my maple cookie" or something like that. the writer said that her patner didnt notice a huge difference in taste, but that they both noticed a huge difference in smell.

i googled "my maple cookie" and these folks at the link above appear to sell it. i dont have a link to the article, because i read it in the paper magazine. and it could have been a few years ago. i have all the issues back like five or six years though, so i could try to scour them this weekend if you want. let me know.

My guy and I have been apart for three years (Navy and other issues, we date other people and it works for us) and during some cybersex recently he asked me how I tasted. I told him I tasted mild, like a girl, like he remembered. He told me he remembered me tasting "sweet." I don't think I taste sweet at all! I can certainly get funky down there pretty fast and wonder and worry about it a bit, but I think that's normal. Anyone who wants to go down on you, likes it. Simple as that.

And all the suggestions about fruit and water are great. I know my guy is coming home early next year and you can bet that I'll spend the two weeks before he gets home following all these tips!

If you're in good health and maintain proper hygiene it's pretty safe to say you smell and taste just fine. You aren't supposed to smell like lilacs or taste like tootsie pops, anything artificial you do to try and make that happen is likely to bring a world of sadness on your perfectly normal girl parts. Vagina tastes like vagina, some people love it, some hate it, but most can at least tolerate it without much ick factor.
If you're still worried, why not take a little taste of yourself?

so...

...you are what you eat. If you think you smell funky, avoid eating things that produce a surplus of yeast, such as wheat and sugar. Eat lots of fruit, cut back on meat, lots of veggies, lots of water. Basically, get any nutritional healing book, and follow their diet suggestions for a healthy vag. Tee hee.

I also consume oodles of acidopholis, which is naturally found in miso and sourkraut, and can also be purchased as a supplement.

Well, things that are generally good for you and your vagina are washing with just warm water and your fingers (no soap unless it's only on the outside - soap inside the labia can cause bacterial imbalances), wearing cotton underwear, drinking plenty of water, and eating a healthy diet with lots of fruits and veggies. But as others have said, you probably taste very good to anyone who is going down on you - they're there for sex, not for fruit salad, after all. ;) Seriously though, unless you have a vaginal infection or some other health problem, you most likely taste good.

fruit helps!

when i ate stuff that wasn't healthy my taste was salty and i didn't like it.

i notice when i eat fruit it's more a neutral kinda sweet taste, though when i have pineapple it taste sweeter.

the smell is still musky though. i think that's normal.

though some girls with bad hygiene or idk what it is do smell bad!

one girl i messed around with smelled like rotten eggs and tasted like that too. :( it was badddddd.

Rotten eggs. I just gagged.

I agree that it usually smells musky regardless of taste (and sometimes a little ... metallic? around my period, anyways.)

Lately I've made a major change in my diet. More fresh fruit and veg, more water, less red meat, less caffiene, less cigarettes, I only ever rarely drink alcohol so that was a non factor.

Anyway, just the other night my boyfriend got home from his Christmas Party. It was 4am, and he was getting amorous. My first thought as he went down on me was "Oh no! I haven't showered since 7am!!". He was down there for 30 seconds, poked his head up and I said "OMG do I taste horrible!! I haven't shower for like 20 hours." And he looked confused and said "Um, no, I wanted to say that you taste effing beautiful". LOL.

So I guess diet helps!
